GARDEN, IT FEEDS MORE THAN A TABLE, IT FEEDS A SOUL
WELCOME TO OUR COMMUNITY RESILIENCE GARDEN, 2023
It all started 10 years ago and what began as a few small gardens is now a garden that utilises every nook and cranny of the property, producing an array of fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs to supplement the Emergency Relief & Community Kitchen/Lunch programs as well as an opportunity for community to be involved in the development and ongoing maintenance of the gardens.
In the past the project has been jointly funded under the Commonwealth/State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements 2018.This funding provided a segue from the Work for the Dole Programme to the Community Resilience Garden Project. The program for 2023 involves participants who volunteer their time, there is no mutual obligation to attend. It’s about developing skills to be resilient gardeners, learning about soil health, composting , worm farms and growing produce that is suitable to our climate and location. Participants also get to learn about how to cook with those ingredients, preserving foods, jarring stewing and pickling. .

the Community Resilience Garden Vision for 2023
The vision for the Community Resilience Garden for 2023, is to build and expand on our existing green spaces in a transformative way:
· Evolving the ornamental gardens into edible ones and tripling the size of our productive gardens;
· Enhancing our connection to place by incorporating native bush tucker, medicine plants and bilingual signage throughout the gardens;
· Delivering programs that holistically support the diverse needs of our clients and community;
· Supporting and supplementing the food programs operating via the Centre.
· Beautifying and enlivening the Centre’s garden and community gathering spaces for the enjoyment of our community.
· Unifying our Centre’s suite of programs and services within ‘a whole of site’ landscape design plan.
